PTL: Volunteer Opportunities
2018-19 Volunteer Opportunity Descriptions
Fall Fundraiser(September): The team will be responsible for reviewing fundraising companies, selecting a fall fundraiser subject to approval by administration, facilitating promotion of fundraiser activities & tracking class goals. As the kick off approaches, the team will plan the Kick off assembly, reserve the gym and distribute packets to all classrooms for students to take home. During the 2 weeks of the fundraiser the team will organize the student collection forms, distribute student prizes, track money collection, report daily totals and deposits to Amy McCullough, as well as plan the DJ Glow Party for students that qualify. At least 3 representatives need to be present on delivery day to help the drivers deliver the products to each classroom and to be sure the school secretary has phone numbers to hand out to anyone having an issue with their order.
Fall Festival (November): There will be a Fall Festival in October of 2016.
Skate Nights (November & April): The team will work with the principal and Fountain Valley skate to book 2 skate nights (Fall & Spring), as well as publicizing this event to the students and families.
Jog-a-thon (Spring): The team will publicize the Color Run event, schedule volunteers to color the students, distribute water & popsicles, set up and take down the track & collect sponsor envelopes, coordinate prizes and provide names for chapel recognition. The team will also distribute sponsor sheets to go home to families as well as publicizing the online sponsorship website.
In N Out Burger Day (Spring): The team will contact In N Out to schedule the event, publicize the event to families, send home order form for the tickets, collect the money for the treasurer and be on site the day of.
Parent Empowerment (Ongoing): The team will facilitate the planning of events for a parent-centered speaker series that addresses relevant issues facing children/teens, reserve campus facilities, publicize events, collaborate on event activities, and manage any budget for such activities.
Mentor Families: A team of families with at least one family per grade will provide welcome calls to new families throughout the year, recruit mentor families, partner new families and mentor families, and work in connection with the Room Parent coordinator to be sure upcoming activities are being communicated clearly and that new families are feeling plugged in.
Box Tops: The team will collect the box tops, Labels for Education and soup labels from each classroom monthly, organize monthly work sessions to trim and count labels to be sent in for redemption, and create incentive activities.
Merchant Partners: The team will partner with retail establishments for refund programs that benefit Christ Lutheran. They will also facilitate family registration with retail vendors and promote the Grocery Partners Program, Shoparoo, Communities for a Cause, Target, Tanaka Farms, etc.
Room Parents Coordinator: The team will facilitate communication between all room parents, organize the room parent information packets, and lead the room parent orientation.
Room Parents: The team or individual will encourage and support teachers throughout the year with assistance in the classroom, weekly (or more often if needed) email communications & reminders to parents, notes of encouragement, prayers, and will plan special appreciation festivities.
Battery & Recycle Drives: The team leader will promote recycling events, supervise recycle drop-offs, sort recyclables monthly and schedule & promote Earth Week activities.
Baking Pros: The team will facilitate baked goods for events such as: Noble Knights lunch, teacher appreciation, VIP day, Blood Drives, etc.
Parent Prayer Team: The team will meet weekly (depending on schedules) to pray for the school, families, and special prayer requests throughout the year.
Welcome Back Kick Off (August): The team will have a PTL Table with signup sheets available so that parents can plug in to areas they are interested in. This team will also greet new families, engage existing families and encourage involvement. There will be several “Kids Are First “items displayed to give a sneak peak of the Fall Fundraiser.
Family Fun Night (September): The team will publicize, set up and clean up a PTL sponsored event. The team will also work with the 8thgrade teacher to provide concessions.
Book Fair & Celebrate Reading Week (January & March): The team will contact Scholastic to schedule, reserve the library and sign up volunteers to work in shifts during times that the Book Fair will be open.
End of the Year School Picnic (June: K-7th Grade): The team will facilitate the planning, purchasing and clean up of all food and will help facilitate park permits & buses carrying students and staff to and from the school.
Assembly Planning & Awareness Week: Red Ribbon/ Anti Bully Week (October): The team will partner with a Christ Lutheran teacher to select the annual theme, plan daily lunchtime activities, create banners to represent each daily theme, plan the Red Ribbon week décor, select and order student give-away items, and recruit guest speakers. This team will also plan and coordinate all assemblies for the school year with the Principal approval.
